Philadelphia, PA Really cool museum in Philadelphia! If you are ever in Philly definitely check it out if you like art. I would suggest going on Wednesday after 5pm or 6pm because it is "pay what you want" night which means you can even pay a penny.
The museum has a large selection of art work to see from different places and time periods. They also have built in domes, courtyards and fountains that represent a certain time and place.
What makes it even better is you can walk through them and experience them first hand. There is no dress code but there are rules at this museum and plenty of staff walking around to make sure everything is in place. One rule is that you can not walk with a backpack on your back.
However you can have it on your chest. There is a gift shop inside.
This museum also features the rocky steps and statue. Both of these attractions are outside of the museum and do not require any form of payment.
On top of such a generous deal, this museum is HUGE and offers an expansive set of art in terms of variety American, European, Asian and time periods s to s to modern and contemporary art. I felt like I was exploring different worlds, which was an incredible feeling, as I went through their Modern Times American art in the s to s special exhibit to their Japanese teahouse exhibit to their collection of medieval arms and armor exhibit and more.
I recommend entering through the East Entrance the Rocky stepsexploring the first and second floor exhibits you can easily spend 1. You can only get into the main exhibits and whatever other areas they let general admits into, but honestly, you can spend hours in that place and still not get to see everything.
The collection is pretty impressive as it has works even I recognize. The sectioned halls are well organized, though the facility in general is pretty maze-like so you might find yourself asking for directions for the bathroom, or even your way out.
I love the Art Museum! My favorite areas are the European and Asian galleries, though I love the rotating area always changing from one thought-provoking exhibit to the next. We really enjoyed our time here!
And the art was very nice. The surrounding area was really beautiful too! You could just not go inside and have a wonderful time because of how beautiful the grounds are! A TOP spot to visit in Philadelphia. You cannot skip here. Tickets also give you access to nearby museums, like the Rodin museum, and give you access for the next day as well.
You gotta check the website for the never ending list of exhibits. I loved all the European art, the medieval armor collection, and the recreated English, French, Japanese, and Chinese "rooms," just to name a few things I came here on a Wednesday night when it was "free" admission. I need to go back to explore more, because one night did not cut it.
Very big, can easily spend half a day in there. Impressive collection of Renaissance paintings, Persian and middle East art. Tbh, you need a full day devoted to seeing everything here.Oct 24, · Owner description: This museum, located at The College of Physicians of Philadelphia, is one of the finest medical history museums in America.
